Comcast announces a new LGBT monthly talk/magazine show entitled
“OUT Spoken.” It is a round table discussion sponsored
by The LGBT Community Center and a special advance show will take
place at the Center on October 28, from 7-9:00 p.m.
It premieres November 23 at 8:30 p.m. The show will repeat three
times that week, Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., Saturday at 7:00 p.m.,
and Sunday at 8:00 p.m. The show is hosted by Tim Gaskin and features
the live sounds of digital DJ Ean Golden, segments hosted by Janine
Shiota, and blog (short for “web log”) star Bradford
Shellhammer will be available. Comcast representatives and the
cast of “OUT Spoken” will be on hand. Sweets and savories
will be provided by Le Bon Gateau, a new Castro patisserie located
at 476 Castro Street.
The presentation is a studio format talk show with some outside
produced segments. Each episode features live music, segments
on LGBT organizations, studio interviews with social groups /
organizations (i.e. women’s bowling league, Tsunami water
polo team, etc.), the Castro calendar, and “what’s
hot” segments from A Different Light book store spokesperson.
The most exciting segment is the 3-5 minute filmmaker short segment
which features the work of local LGBT community filmmakers along
with a post-viewing discussion with a matching LGBT community
leader/guest.
During the round table, the segment on Maitri starring Janine
Shiota will be viewed and a short by Joerg Fockele called “+”.
It’s a three-minute long piece that deals with an African
American man finding out he is sero-positive and the first couple
of hours in his life after that. The in-studio taping of the episode
is scheduled on November 10 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
